Wisdom Multigenerational Christian Academy (WMCA) is in the fundraising phase of establishing a school for children and families coping with a diagnosis of Specific Learning Disability which includes Dyslexia. WMCA will primarily serve African Americans living in Kansas City’s Urban Core.
WMCA will educate using the Montessori method and family support programs that are proven to help Dyslexic children succeed academically and provide for their Social/Emotional needs. The Montessori method provides a natural development of a child’s skills and talents. Materials are designed with the special needs of the student in mind and allows them to select work that keeps them motivated and increases their academic achievement. WMCA is also founded on Christian principles.
While WMCA wants to provide service to all families in the area who need us regardless of race there is a need that has not been addressed for African American children with dyslexia. Literacy rates are a strong, and sometimes grim and predictors of future successes. WMCA will prevent poor childhood literacy rates for children in the Urban Core with Dyslexia who are most at risk. Our learning design engages every generation of the student’s family in assessing their needs and strengths to develop achievable goals supporting the mind, the body, and the spirit.
Wisdom Multigenerational Christian Academy is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. With your generous help, today we can lease the space, construct, and supply classrooms in time to open our doors to Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten students in the Fall of 2021. The result is a self-reliant, contributing member of a family, a community, and the world.
